Javier Sosa, MD is a double board-certified physician in family medicine and obesity medicine with nearly a decade of experience. At Woodlands Primary Healthcare in The Woodlands, Texas, he treats patients of all ages, offering care for common conditions, preventive exams, chronic disease and weight management, aesthetic medicine, and in-office procedures.
Dr. Sosa completed his residency at McGovern Medical School (UTHealth, Houston) and earned Board Certification in Obesity Medicine with Distinction in 2024. Previously, he served as Medical Director at Roosevelt General Clinic and RGH Hospital in New Mexico, where he was named Doctor of the Year three years in a row (2015–2017).

Dr. Sosa earned his medical degree from Universidad de Oriente in Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela in 2002. He completed his residency in Family and Community Medicine at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) from 2007 to 2010, where he received comprehensive training in family medicine, emergency medicine, obstetrics, and pediatrics.
In 2011, Dr. Sosa earned Board Certification from the American Board of Family Medicine. His commitment to advancing his expertise led him to pursue additional specialization, and in 2024, he achieved Board Certification in Obesity Medicine with Distinction from the American Board of Obesity Medicine, demonstrating his dedication to evidence-based treatment of obesity and metabolic health conditions.
Dr. Sosa holds extensive certifications including Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Moderate Sedation. He has also earned a Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine and is a Fellow of Metabolic and Anti-Aging Medicine, allowing him to offer comprehensive wellness services to his patients.
